Wanderlust Wishlist

In glamping, gypset, safari, Travel on March 23, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Lately I’ve been suffering from a severe case of wanderlust-must have something to do with the warm weather. All I want to do is go on a fabulous vacation somewhere. Here is my wanderlust wish list:

The Surf Lodge, Montauk

While nothing beats a private home in The Hamptons/ Montauk-I like the laid back vibe of The Surf Lodge.Seems like a fun gathering spot.

A Private Home in La Barra, Uruguay

Punte Del Este, Uruguay is the South American playground for the rich and famous. However, there are ways to escape the scene-case in point this secluded private home in La Barra.

La Residencia Hotel, Majorca, Spain

After seeing the Francois Halard photos of the Venturis’ fabulous home in Majorca (Vogue, April 2010), I want to be surrounded by lush lemon and almond trees while relaxing by this pool.

Sri Panwa Resort, Phuket, Thailand

This world-class resort is unbelievable. It has every amenity imaginable.  Phuket seems like the ultimate resort getaway.

Glamping in Kenya

Going on Safari in Kenya is my ultimate Wanderlust Wishlist Destination. Luxury tent-check. a glimpse of the Big Five-check.Cruising in a Land Rover-check.  It would be the most unbelievable experience. Abercrombie and Kent are the leaders in organizing exotic itineraries.

Tents and Tipis-The Ultimate Boho-Chic Accessory

I was flipping through Gypset the other night, and came to the conclusion that in order to be considered a true poster girl for the bohemian, casual, luxe lifestyle-one must own a tent or tipi (and owning a home in a far away locale doesn’t  hurt either). Check out these examples.

So if you are in the market for your own Tipi, Tent or Yurt check out Heathworks or if you don’t have the extra space, there is always glamping:

Boho-Chic Outdoor Spaces

In boho chic, fireplaces, gypset, julia chaplin on March 8, 2010 at 8:00 am

I’m hoping the sun will stay awhile here in LA and that it will really start feeling like Spring. I would love to spend a sunny afternoon lounging at one of these ridiculously cool boho-chic spaces. Pools, beaches, or fire places-any will do-just need a stack of magazines, a bikini, my Missoni towel and I’d be good for hours.

Boho-Chic-The Essence of this Blog

In boho chic, Fall 2010, gypset, tory burch on March 3, 2010 at 7:56 pm

Recently someone told me that in order to be a successful blogger, it is important to find a specific niche and stick with it. When I thought about that the first thing that came to mind was my love for everything and all boho-chic. I’m not referring to the Olsen twins circa 2007-I’m referring to the well-traveled look that is collected or curated over time as it relates to fashion or interiors-kind of the gypset mentality. Here are a few of my current boho-chic (can someone come up with a better name?) favorites.

Sunrise Ruffalo’s House as Featured in Domino

I love the mix of natural materials-leather, wood, sisal. and the exposed beams are to die for. This room has a very DIY  vibe that feels lived in and comfortable.

I clipped this picture a few weeks ago  from Fashion Week and I’ve forgotten who made this dress. Anyone know? I love this dress-it is stunning without trying too hard, and it looks so comfortable.

Tory Burch Evil Eye Cuff

This piece from TB is pure boho-chic. It is graphic, bold, worldly, and worn in-like you picked up in some far away locale. A definite statement piece.

Decorate Like A Rolling Stone

From Grazia Magazine-Richards in her NY apartment

One of my favorite blogs-R Du Jour recently posted an old article of Alexandra Richard’s (daughter of Keith) lovely apartment. I immediately fell in love with her relaxed sense of style full of vibrant colors and and of course, that boho-rocker chic look that only the offspring of a rock legend and model can pull off.

I love that mess of a chandelier

So her interior inspired me to find images of that other Rolling Stones daughter-Jade Jagger. Quite possibly the reigning queen of  all hippie deluxe, super relaxed, living by the beach, barefoot cool. Again, a relaxed sense of style, vibrant colors, and effortless chic. They both have a great sense of style!

Love the butterflies-I beleive this is her London flat

Gypset Style-Boho Chic

In bohochic, gypset, ikat, inspiration, julia chaplin, Travel on January 10, 2010 at 3:18 pm

Lately, I have been inspired greatly by the gypset lifestyle. If you are not familiar with it, read my post here on the 2009 publication by Julia Chaplin and also read my post on Boho Chic. I went through my inspiration file and picked out a few rooms that capture the essence of this boho chic look I can’t seem to shake. What they all seem to have in common are an effortless, lived in look heavy on ethnic prints and treasures collected from around the world. Many of the rooms also have modern touches that keep the rooms from looking like a Moroccan or Turkish bazaar.

A Tahitian Pearl Necklace from Pachamama

I’m heading down to Sayulita, Mexico for a friend’s wedding this weekend. It is a small, bohemian fishing/surfing village about an hour North of Puerto Vallarta. I am so excited to eat fish tacos from a street stand and shop at Pachamama, a small boutique owned by gypsy, bohemian sisters-Nathalie and Sophie Mignot.  I first read about them in Gypset-one of my favorite new coffee table books. I am hoping to come home with one of their Tahitian Pearl Necklaces.

Stylish Reading: Gypset

I am highly anticipating the release of the new Assouline Book, Gypset, by freelance journalist, Julia Chaplin. In Julia’s words “Gypset (Gypsy+jet set) is about an emerging group of artists, musicians, fashion designers, surfers, and bon vivants– who lead semi-nomadic, unconventional lives. The book features photo portraits of the Gypsetters, their self-designed homes in far flung bohemian enclaves, and a written profile.” Some Gypsetters featured are Damien Hirst, Jade Jagger, Alice Temperley, and more.

Her ideas nicely compliment my current obsession with everything and all boho chic. Julia is beginning her book tour and it is slated for release in May.
